A pan-India spa chain approached Bayhauz Design Studio to design three outlets at Mumbai's Terminal 2 Airport. The commission included a compact 25 sqm kiosk in the domestic departures zone, followed by a 77 sqm store in the domestic duty-free area and an 81 sqm store in the international duty-free section. The first challenge was the 25 sqm kiosk. Within this tight footprint, we explored over 20 permutations of layouts and design skins, experimenting with materials ranging from stone and woodwork to glass bricks and lime-finished walls. The final design took shape as a striking blue box with glass block inserts, its skin animated by integrated visual merchandising elements.

Programmatically, the kiosk incorporated a therapy room and a hall with multiple zero-gravity massage chairs, supported by a compact reception and pantry. The structural system was conceived as an integrated steel frame with smart ventilation strategies, clad with paneling in varied shades of blue. Visual merchandising, designed by SO Design Lab in consultation with Bayhauz, punctuated the elevation through curated elements that clearly communicated the services offered.
The subsequent 77 sqm and 81 sqm outlets carried forward this design ethos while adapting to larger footprints and differing contexts within the terminal. Together, the three outlets demonstrate how identity, atmosphere, and efficiency can be achieved across varying scales in a demanding environment such as an international airport. This project was ultimately an exercise in speed, precision, and collaboration. With strict timelines set by airport authorities, our team coordinated closely with clients, execution teams, and on-site management to deliver high-quality drawings and ensure smooth execution. Bayhauz Design Studio is proud to have realized three stores at Mumbai Airport in record time, establishing a distinct architectural and material language for the spa brand within one of India's busiest terminals.
